Castellabate is the pearl of Cilento. Situated between Paestum and Velia, offering spectacular panoramic views of the coastline of the Gulf of Salerno and Capri, it is one of the most important beach centers along the Cilento coast. It consists of five areas: the Castellabate medieval center, Santa Maria (where the Municipal building is located ), San Marco, Ogliastro Marino and Lago.
The apartment is situated in the medieval hilltop village erected a thousand years ago as a stronghold against the Saracens.
A short walk from the apartment you can find bars, restaurants, pizza places, supermarkets and anything else you might need.

Some useful information about beaches:
The sea and the coast of Castellabate are protected marine biological from 1972 to preserve the natural heritage and environmental, representing one of the prime examples of the marine park in Italy. In 2009 was established the marine protected area of Santa Maria di Castellabate, hugging the area between the Bay of Sauco (or Walloon) and La Punta Ogliastro.
Round here beaches are awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and it's hard to choice the most beautiful. My favorite is the beach right in the center of town, in the shadow of the castle. What could be more convenient? It's lovely to swim with such a beautiful backdrop and, if you want a break from the sun, bars, ice cream shops, restaurants are right there.
Walk a little to the South in the direction of San Marco and there is a long arc of sandy beach to choose either umbrella/chair rentals, or plop your beach blanket down on the free sections. Going toward the North, for those who like to sun on the rocks or snorkeling, there are reefs to enjoy. Up still from that is the Zona Lago, more sandy beach that ends at the Punta Tresino.
A nice thing to do is rent a little boat from the port of San Marco and tool around the Punta Licosa where you can drop anchor and swim in the crystal-clear water.
